SUNNYJIONT will explain about Alternatives of TMTD.

Jun 04, 2018

People who know about the rubber chemicals industry know that the intermediate products of TMTD (TT) and other rubber accelerators will decompose nitrosamine carcinogens. How do you choose alternatives? If you want to use an environmentally friendly cure system to deal with the EU, please see SUNNYJOINT's introduction.

Accelerator TMTD alternatives

TBzTD (tetrabenzyl thiuram disulfide) can be used instead, with better scorch safety and resistance to reversion; TBzTD name is tetrabenzyl thiuram disulfide, abbreviated as TBzTD. This product is a newly developed thiuram type accelerator, it can replace TMTD (tetramethyl disulfide thiuram), it can be used as natural rubber, fast-curing primary accelerator or booster for styrene-butadiene rubber and styrene butadiene rubber. The process is safer and has a longer scorch time than TMTD. Since TBzTD has a large molecular weight and a high melting point, it is difficult to decompose, so no nitrosamines are produced. In particular, TBzTD is only slightly lower in vulcanization velocity than TMTD, and other physical properties are almost the same as TMTD, and it has become a very promising type of thiuram. Vulcanization accelerator new varieties.

Although TBzTD is still a kind of thiuram, the resulting dibenzyl nitrosoamine is a non-carcinogenic substance that is neither volatile nor soluble in water due to its large molecular weight, and the amount of this product is small, because it is non-polar, Frost does not appear. TBzTD also has the advantages of long curing period and good operational safety. It is suitable for the vulcanization of natural rubber, butadiene rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber, nitrile rubber, butyl rubber, EPDM rubber and latex. It is widely used. Manufacturing wire and cable, tires, tapes, colored transparent products, footwear and heat-resistant products, etc., can be used to replace thiuram accelerators such as TMTD and TETD.
